About me

Hello again!

In this section I would like to give you some more information about who I am, my values when it comes to counselling and the qualifications I hold.

I am very passionate about the work I do. Even after many years of training I still regularly attend training courses to continuously develop my practice and keep my knowledge up to date so that I can provide my clients with the best possible support.

My highest priority when working with you is to keep you safe and to go at a pace that is right for you to find healing. I provide a warm, friendly and non-judgemental environment to support you as you explore your difficulties.

I am gentle in my approach. I understand that if something troubles us, it can make us feel very uncomfortable so we’d rather not look at it, push it aside, or try to forget about it. Maybe you have taken up habits to keep old demons at bay. Maybe these habits that once helped no longer serve you now. In fact, they might hold you back from living your life to the full or even damage you. Despite these drawbacks you might feel conflicted and find it hard to let your habits go. I would like to help you gain strength and build positive and healthful coping mechanisms, so that step by step you can let go of strategies that are currently holding you back to make changes that will enable you to lead a more fulfilling life.

I will walk with you at a pace that you choose. I will listen carefully. I might gently challenge you, in a way that is constructive and encouraging, so that with time you can replace that harsh, inner critical voice with one that is more nurturing and compassionate.

I am an integrative counsellor: I use techniques from various different counselling modalities to tailor my skills to your individual needs. I work in a trauma-informed way: I use evidence-based techniques to support you as you navigate through your difficulties, whilst minimizing the risk of a potential re-traumatisation when re-visiting a painful event from your past.

I offer both short-, medium- and long-term counselling support. If we start working together, we will use the first counselling session to look in more detail at why you have come to counselling, what your hopes are and what you would like to change in your life. We will sign a Counselling Agreement including a privacy statement. Over the course of our work together we will regularly review our Counselling Agreement (usually every 6 or 12 weeks, depending on our agreement) to see if the counselling support I offer you still meets your needs, so if necessary we can adjust our counselling approach or amend targets.

If you would like to book a 20 minute free consultation please get in touch with me.

I’m looking forward to hearing from you!

Please don’t hesitate to contact me about any further questions.
